♪ STUDENT ASSOCIATION OF PIANO ACCOMPANISTS - SAPA 501(c)(3) ♬
The Student Association of Piano Accompanists (SAPA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, advances cognitive health, psychosocial well-being, and lifelong engagement through music-based programming, research, and community service. SAPA promotes equitable access to innovative music initiatives, with a particular focus on community drum circles for older adults and collaborative piano instruction for neurodivergent children. Through pilot programs and research partnerships, SAPA evaluates the impact of active music participation on cognitive function, social connectedness, emotional well-being, and quality of life, particularly among older adults with mild cognitive impairment. By generating evidence and refining scalable program models, SAPA seeks to support the broader adoption of music-based interventions as accessible community-centered approaches to promoting healthy aging and contributing to the long-term goal of delaying the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Through music, research, and service, SAPA fosters meaningful engagement across diverse communities.
Founded in 2023, the Student Association of Piano Accompanists (SAPA) began by providing free piano accompaniment services and a piano donation program to promote equitable access to music education. In 2026, SAPA initiated and implemented the community drum circle program for older adults, marking a major expansion of the organization’s mission. To further support this initiative, SAPA reached out to two professors specializing in aging studies to launch research on music-based interventions for cognitive and psychosocial well-being among older adults. The organization also introduced free piano duet lessons for neurodivergent children. Through these efforts, SAPA strengthened its commitment to community connection and the use of music as a tool for social impact.

The Student Association of Piano Accompanists (SAPA) developed and implemented its original community drum circle initiative for older adults with mild cognitive impairment, creating opportunities for engagement. Building on this self-developed idea, SAPA partnered with researchers to support a research initiative focused on developing accessible therapeutic interventions that promote brain health and social-emotional wellness among older adults in assisted living communities. Through this work, the organization aims to evaluate the feasibility and impact of structured drum circle programs in supporting cognitive health and enhancing quality of life, with the long-term goal of helping delay progression to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

The Student Association of Piano Accompanists encourages students with neurodivergent disorders to take free piano duet lessons taught by the Rosalina Duo. By accompanying learners at the keyboard, we create a supportive learning environment that encourages using music as a tool for strengthening focus, adaptability, and shared confidence.

We provide free accompaniment to students regardless of economic status to ensure they receive equal opportunities. We serve elementary through college students for rehearsals and performances of their choice, allowing youth to experience musical growth and commitment. As SAPA expands its community drum circle programs for older adults, we are actively seeking volunteers to join us in supporting the piano accompaniment program.

The Student Association of Piano Accompanists
is committed to fostering the creative development of young minds. By providing high-quality keyboards, we empower schools to enhance their music programs. With each donation, our volunteers conduct short presentations to students on how to engage with free local learning opportunities.

These instruments are a valuable resource for music classes, band practices, choir rehearsals, and individual student practice sessions. SAPA actively engages with local music communities, connecting schools with potential mentors, guest musicians, and performance opportunities.
Schools interested in participating in our Piano Donation Program must meet certain eligibility criteria:
1.) Demonstrating a commitment to music education
2.) Showcasing a genuine need for keyboards
3.) Schools can email requests to studentpianoaccompanists@gmail.com, which will be reviewed by our team. We will then reach out to discuss further details and arrange the donation process.

Our team consists of dedicated volunteers who are classically-trained musicians that are able to perform at a multitude of venues. We hope to personally connect with all individuals, supporting them through musical experiences that honor their abilities and individuality.
Your contribution today helps us expand music programs for schools in underserved communities. Donations cover instruments, travel costs, rental fees, and website maintenance. Any donations will further SAPA's goals in providing equitable music opportunities for our youth.
